Manuscript readiness audit

Know what needs attention before publication.

A focused manuscript assessment for independent authors who need a clear publishing decision before committing to the wrong level of editing.

Diagnostic, not a disguised copyeditPriority fixesClear readiness verdict
Best for

A decision point between drafting and production.

The audit is useful when you need to know whether the manuscript is ready for copyediting, still needs structural revision, or should be tested against its market promise before cover and listing work begin.

Before editing

Choose the right next stage.

Separate large structural needs from sentence-level polish so you do not pay to polish pages likely to change.

Before publishing

Check reader delivery.

Test whether the opening, pacing, voice, continuity and payoff support the promise being made on the cover and listing.

Before relaunch

Diagnose satisfaction risk.

If presentation is not the only issue, the audit can identify manuscript priorities before a new retail package is built.

Scope and pricing

A focused assessment with practical priorities.

This is not developmental editing, copyediting or proofreading. Representative annotations show patterns; they do not mark every occurrence.

What you receive

A route forward, not a wall of comments.

The deliverable is organized by priority so you can decide what to revise first, what can wait and what may already be working.

01 · DiagnoseIdentify the pattern.

Find structural, pacing, voice, continuity and promise-delivery issues that materially affect readiness.

02 · PrioritizeOrder the work.

Separate publication blockers from useful improvements and lower-priority polish.

03 · DecideChoose the next service.

Move to revision, editing or production with a clearer reason for the decision.

Confidentiality and control

Your manuscript remains your work.

Do not send a full manuscript through the public project form. Hatti requests a private file only after the project scope is confirmed. You retain your rights and final publishing decisions. This audit does not replace legal, sensitivity, medical, factual or other specialist review where the manuscript requires it.

Questions

Before you send a manuscript.

The initial brief needs only the book title, genre, status, approximate length and the decision you are trying to make.

Is this a developmental edit?

No. The audit diagnoses readiness and identifies priorities. It does not rewrite scenes or provide an exhaustive editorial letter at developmental-edit depth.

Is copyediting or proofreading included?

No. Representative annotations may identify recurring patterns, but the manuscript is not corrected line by line.

Do you guarantee that the manuscript will be ready afterward?

No. Readiness depends on the revisions you choose to make and the standards of the publishing route you select.

Should I upload my manuscript with the first brief?

No. Send the short project brief first. Hatti will provide private file instructions only if a manuscript audit is the right next step.

Are revisions or clarifications included?

The written quote confirms the included clarification or revision allowance before work begins. Additional reading, newly supplied material or a materially expanded scope is priced and approved first.
